InnoState selects Protomatic as an inaugural Innovation Realization firm
Protomatic is honored to have been selected as an inaugural InnoState Innovation Realization firm. InnoState is a three-year project funded by the State of Michigan and five federal agencies. It was created to help Southeastern Michigan manufacturers innovate, develop, and launch new products for consumer and industrial markets.
As an InnoState company, Protomatic has access to advanced training in design, sales, and operations that are focused on product innovation and subsequent launches. Protomatic can also take advantage of technical and marketing assistance, as well as training and certification.
Compared to other manufacturing states, the output of Michigan industries is skewed toward component manufacturing, not name brand products. The goal of the InnoState program is to assist with product launch performance and connect companies with prospective customers.
Protomatic was identified as a “New Product Contract Manufacturer” (NPCM) that specializes in helping businesses develop new products or processes. As a CNC machining contract manufacturer focusing on prototypes-to-production, Protomatic offers entrepreneurs an excellent resource as an innovative development partner.
Over the three years of the project, it is estimated that InnoState members have realized more than $20 million in new orders. That translates into 240 additional direct and indirect jobs and $9.6 million in additional payroll. Taxes on those additional earnings will exceed $2.4 million, including $1.9 million in additional federal receipts, thus paying back the federal investment from the grant. Most important, it adds a new capacity in the region’s economy that translates innovation into products for the nation and the world.
Regional Innostate partners include the Worforce Intelligence Network (WIN), Detroit Regional Chamber, Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC), and The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), along with the Michigan Economic Development Center (MEDC).
